Do you have a lot of trees around your home? It is something that many homeowners like since they give protection from the wind, cool shade in the heat of summer and they add a lot of beauty. The problem is that sometimes trees are the cause of major damage to homes. This can happen when they get old and die, or they get weakened from disease or insect infestations. It is not always that obvious that a tree isn’t that healthy, but there are some telltale signs to keep an eye out for to get early warning of a tree that could pose a risk to your home.
If you knock on the trunk of a tree and it sounds hollow, you should check it out closer. The same is true if the tree is soft or squishy. You can try pushing on it with a sharp object to see if it sinks in easily.
All of these signs could give you an idea that it might be time to take the tree down in a controlled way before it comes down on its own.
