Tornadoes are very interesting weather phenomena. There probably aren’t any other types of weather that you will find as many movies about, but not everything that you see in the movies can be used in real life. The problem with tornadoes is that you usually have very little warning before they pop up in the area where you live. Of course, there are certain parts of the country where you are much more likely to have this problem, it is good to be aware of what is going to help keep you safe in case you are faced with the danger of a tornado.
If you live in a home that isn’t built for tornadoes, your best bet is to evacuate if it is at all possible. Mobile homes will quickly become ripped to shreds by a powerful tornado. If you live in a home with a basement, that is most likely going to be the safest spot in your home, but if you do not, you should seek shelter in the interior of your home, under a staircase or inside of a tub. Make sure to cover yourself with soft things like pillows and mattresses to protect your body from falling debris.
